Down 1.6 pounds this week

Well, it looks like I'll end 2007 weighing 267.4 pounds. That's what the scale showed for a loss of 1.6 pounds this week. That's about 30 pounds since I started this blog in June. I'll call that phase one. In 2008 I plan on completing phase two. That will be getting down to my healthy weight. For me, that's in the neighborhood of 190.

I've had a great 2007. I'm so very lucky to have my wife and kids. I love them very much.

I hope you had a great year too!

No Damage

Well, Christmas day went well. While I did eat much more than I needed to, I didn't eat anywhere near how I would have in the past. The scale was up yesterday morning by about two pounds, but that was all gone by this morning. I think if I just keep things "lite" for the next few days, I'll actually show a loss this week. Right now, I weigh the same as I did Monday morning. Barb is really helping. All Christmas cookies, etc., were left in PA. No sugary delights made it back to our house. For me, that makes all the difference in the world.

Down 1.6 pounds this week

This might be the first Christmas ever that I haven't gained weight. Well, it's not Christmas yet but it is Christmas Eve and the scale was at 269.0 this morning for a loss of 1.6 pounds this week. Of course, tomorrow brings many opportunities to eat 20,000 calories, but I'll deal with that. It's nice to see the "260s" for two days now. Eight days, one-at-a-time, until the New Year. I just need to stay on track.

Today I'm doing some last minute running around. I'll also be running on the treadmill and playing with the weights a little. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!

Down 5.4 pounds this week

Well, sometimes when things work well, they work very well. The scale was at 270.6 this morning and that's a 5.4 pound loss for the week. I just strung together little good choices throughout the week. Now, over the next 2 weeks I have at least 10 Christmas lunches, dinners, parties, and gatherings. I need to keep making good choices.

Pictures from Point Lookout

We had a lot of fun! The weather, while cold, was certainly better than predicted. We only got rain after 4pm on Saturday and it ended overnight. It was a little breezy and about 38 degrees. That's fun when you have a warm fire and a warm camper. We walked a total of about 4 hours from Friday evening through Sunday lunch. The eating was healthy and yummy. I think I'm setup for a good weigh-in tomorrow. Enjoy a few of the pictures.

Campfire

video

I took this from my cell phone. We didn't bring Internet access with us this weekend, so this was the best I could do.

Winter Camping this Weekend

Hello from the fog bank. I'm off today to get ready for our camping trip to Point Lookout this weekend and I awoke to dense fog this morning. (It was outside, not in the bedroom) Anyway, today we set off on our first trip where weather might be a factor. We're only going 45 minutes from home, but the forecast is looking a little dreary. It was to be a slight chance of showers, but now has changed to "up to 5" of snow" so I'm not sure what to expect. We're still going and it might be an adventure.

Katie came home from UMBC to go camping with us, but it turns our that Kristen & Kelsey can't go due to numerous Christmas parties, plays, and stuff like that. Oh well, there will be a next time.

On the weight front, things are clicking this week. So far, with three days left until the Monday weigh-in, I really seem to be making up for the mediocre past few weeks. That's good. It's not magic, I've just been watching every bite. I also got in a few great treadmill workouts and plan on doing a lot of walking, maybe in the snow, at Point Lookout.

I must share a favorite new meal with you. I call it my "Southwestern Egg Burrito" and it's not only delish, but healthy too! Start with 1/2 cup southwestern egg beaters, scrambled (actually, I nuke mine in a small glass bowl). Lay that and 1 slice FF cheddar, 2Tbs no-salt added tomato paste, and 1 TBS low-sodium salsa, all on a Flatout brand whole grain wrap. Then wrap! It's really good and only 3 points. It's high protein, high calcium, whole grain, and the only fat is from the wrap, which has no cholesterol, no trans-fat, and no saturated fat. It even has Omega-3s!

Down 1 pound this week

Well, at least it's in the right direction. This morning the scale was at 276.0 so that's down 1.0 for the week. Today is really busy, Dr appt, vehicle inspection, Christmas shopping and all that.

Up this week...

Well, it pains me to write this down, but that's the whole purpose of having this blog. I'm up this week. The scale was 277.0 this morning and that's up 2.6 pounds for the week. I took so much pride in eating well for Thanksgiving. Well, Pride comes before the fall. This past week I had about five days of mindless eating. No excuses, simply eating way too much. Well, that has come to a stop.
This week will be on track. It's already started that way and will continue. One day at a time. I have my food with me and at home that is healthy, tasty, and filling. I will be walking on the treadmill and during lunch at work. I'm happy to report that Kristen and I are starting a weight lifting program at home. I'll be dusting off the dumbbells and carving out a spot in the basement. I found a good routine online and tonight we'll get everything set up. I think the plan is to lift 3 days per week, preferably on MWF.
OK, so onward and downward. I really don't like to see that upward slant on my chart.
